On this week’s show, Andy Larsen returns from Brazil and joins Ben Dowsett to start talking free agency. With rumors that Gordon Hayward could be receiving a max deal, Ben and Andy dig into the topic of A) is Hayward worth the max? and B) even if it’s an overpay, should the Jazz sign him anyway? We explore some of the possibilities besides Hayward at the wing position.

Then, we talk to Jacob Rosen, of WaitForNextYear and SportsAnalyticsBlog. He tells us about the Cleveland perspective of things, and so we discuss whether Hayward makes sense for the Cavs, and whether a Favors + #5 for the #1 pick was ever actually in discussions. We also talk CJ Miles and David Blatt.

Finally, we sign off with another Crazy Trade Idea of the Week. Should the Jazz acquire Jeremy Lin for free? Especially if it comes with a good prospect?

Just listening to yesterday’s podcast, and have to say there is NO WAY that Burks gets $10M even in this market. I love the guy and definitely think he can be a fabulous player in this league if he continues to improve his shooting. However, even IF the general market thinks he’s better than Jodie Meeks, which is debatable, he doesn’t get double what Meeks just got. My opinion is, even in this market, he wouldn’t get any more than $7-8M.

Yes. I think Burks will take a humble approach in his extension, and agree with the Jazz before the Halloween deadline. He will start at 7.5 million/yr, and it will increase to 9 million a year.

Enjoyed the podcast. Thanks for the effort. Last year I suggested the Monti (I am not even going to try and spell his name) big man o a trade. We do have quite a few asians in Utah and I think Lin could be a mentor or insurance and rotation player. First round pick would swing the deal. If this big man was coached right it might be a steel.
