After three quarters of Clipper-esque play, the Jazz unleashed the season debut of vintage Mehmet Okur. Sure, he’s been playing all season, but tonight was the first real “Memo” game in a long time. His line was ridiculous (27 points on 11-17 shooting, 7 rebounds, 3 steals, 3 assists, 2 blocks), but it wasn’t official until he gathered a long rebound of his own missed shot and drove to the basket with wild abandon and finished with a ferocious slam.

The game also featured some vintage Kyle Korver, fresh off his induction into the Missouri Valley Conference Hall of Fame. Korver was shooting that quick release shot that made him a celebrity at Creighton and it was pretty sight. If Memo and Korver can find their game on a consistent basis, the Jazz are going to be tough to beat.

Other notes:

  • Jazz rookie Othyus Jeffers, fresh off a call-up from the Iowa Energy, made his NBA debut in the fourth quarter. Appropriately, his first NBA points came off an assist from fellow D-League call-up Sundiata Gaines.
  • The Jazz now face a four game road trip, starting on Tuesday at the Chicago Bulls. They will also visit Detroit, Milwaukee, and Oklahoma City before returning home to cleanse the palate with a game against the hapless Washington Wizards.
