The Utah Flash are holding open tryouts later this month. Pay $150 and bring your “A” game and you have a chance. I want to see a church ball legend make the cut. If you’re out there, don’t let us down.
UTAH FLASH TO HOST OPEN TRYOUT
One-Day Tryout Scheduled for September 26 at The Factory in LehiPROVO, Aug. 26, 2009 – The Utah Flash, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Utah Jazz and Atlanta Hawks, will be conducting an open tryout on Sept. 26 at The Flash Factory in Lehi, Utah.
Over the past two years several participants have made the cut and come to Flash training camp. With league approval, at least one player from the open tryout can be selected for an opportunity to be on the Flash opening day roster. Utah head coach Brad Jones can bring up to 17 players to training camp and opening day rosters will be trimmed to 12 players.
“The Flash and the NBA D-League are about providing opportunity,” Jones said. “At our open tryouts we look for untapped talent that can excel in both the Development League and beyond.”
“The open tryout is very intense and very effective,” Jones said. “As they showcase their skills, each player should know that we as coaches are looking for a fit for them in our organization.”
Players should arrive at The Factory, 4425 North Thanksgiving Way (I-15 Exit 284), by 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 26. Workouts begin at 10:00 a.m. Players will compete in skills and conditioning drills prior to dividing into teams for several game-type scrimmages.
Interested players should complete a registration form, as well as a player release and eligibility form. Both are available at utahflash.com or can picked up at the Flash front office at 5017 Edgewood Dr. in Provo. Players that register early should remit a cashier’s check for $150 made payable to the Utah Flash. Day of camp registrants will pay $175 by either cash or cashier’s check. Every player will be provided a workout jersey to keep.
The Flash is also planning on hosting a tryout in Atlanta, Georgia. Details for the Atlanta area tryout are still being determined and will be available at utahflash.com as soon as they are finalized.
